Critical error – plugin broken after 5.4?
-
Hi there, I’d really appreciate some help with my shortcodes plugin. Shortly following the recent WordPress 5.4 update, shortcuts have not been displaying properly on my side and have been affecting the functionality and overall visitor experience.
WordPress reached out to me via an email and through notification on my dashboard to say that there has been a critical error with my site which is preventing it from running properly. They identified this as the shortcodes plugin and after speaking to my website admin, the recommendation was to contact the plug-in creator. As this isn’t directly possible because I do not use the premium version, getting some help here would be helpful.
This error also seemed to correlate with me not being able to access my WordPress dashboard properly and having to use a recovery mode. Therefore, it seems that this could be an issue which is affecting my overall site and not just a plug-in itself. At the same time, a possibly related issue that has been occurring is when I try to edit pages which use the shortcode plugin’s features (such as a post carousel) in the block editor, as attempting to do so leads to critical error message from WordPress on an otherwise blank page.
I have tried deactivating and reactivating the plug-in, the fix doesn’t seem to be there. If anyone knows how I can solve this, I would be grateful for your advice, as I really cannot afford my website so not be working properly right now! Thanks in advance,
Kind regards,
