• Hi guys,

Recently I’ve started encountering a problem – when I cancel an order on my Woocommerce site, I receive the following error:

There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.

When I refresh the page, the order is successfully cancelled.

Sometimes I also receive this error when updating statuses other than cancelled. I’m also experiencing other issues with order actions, like changing a status once and having it appear twice in the order notes.

The company that built my website was unable to figure out what’s causing the issues, and I spoke with the hosting company as well; they couldn’t find anything in the logs.

I’m new here so I apologize in advance if I haven’t provided all of the necessary information. Thanks in advance to those who are able to help.

    Best regards,
    Tom

  • Please check your Emails, you must have received a reason for this error.
If you didn’t find any email from your site then kindly check the spam folder once.

There must be an issue with one of your plugin/themes.

Thank you for the prompt reply, Nikhil. I don’t receive any emails regarding errors on the website, including the spam folder. Perhaps I need to set this up in the admin panel?

I tried deactivating some plugins that I thought might be related to order actions on the order page but it didn’t help.

@wildguitars Can you please check that ‘site admin email’ is yours or not?
Follow the steps to check the email id:
Settings > General > Administration Email Address

If it’s another person, then ask the person to check the emails.
If it’s yours, please ask that company who built the site to setup SMTP which will first solve the Email deliverability issue then we can fix the main issue by knowing what’s going wrong.

My email address is configured in the Administration Email Address field.

Is there anywhere that I can enable/disable error emails?

I have a WP Mail SMTP plugin installed which allows the website to send emails to customers from our email address. Everything is set up properly and it works great.
