Critical Error when Upating to Newest Version

    Hi,
    Love this plugin! I just updated to 2.2.4 and received this error: There has been a critical error on your website.

    I renamed the plugin file to disable it. My site returned to normal. I reinstalled latest version. Same Error. BUT, I didn’t know it would overwrite the renamed file. So, lost all data. Went ahead and deleted the plugin through my file manager.

    Went to install previous version and could not find it. I have installed version 2.1.5 just to have something in place. Where is the 2.2.3 version?? I’d like to have it installed while figuring out why 2.2.4 isn’t working with my website. It would be nice to have the previous version available so users could revert until an issue can be resolved. If I’m missing it, I apologize. Please point me to where to download previous versions for future reference.

    Here is the Error Log from today:
    PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 42602976 bytes) in /home3/DOMAINNAME/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 3111

    Version 2.5.1. can be found here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/defender-security/advanced/
    Previous versions were removed cause they were causing high server load in some cases.

    Error log indicates the PHP memory limit was reached. Could you please access your server through (S)FTP, edit the wp-config.php file and insert the following lines just above the /* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */ comment:

    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '384M');
define('WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M');

    Then try to activate latest version once more.

    Thank you Dimitris! I have updated to the latest version 2.2.4.

    The interface is completely different. It reminds me of when I go to a website from a slow internet connection and the page only loads the menu and links down the left hand side of the page. No graphics. Bare bones looking.

    It looks like all the Defender options are there, but it looks like it is a program built 20 years ago. It’s just gray pages and everything is listed on the left hand side of the page in a list format. Doesn’t have the user friendly interface it did before.

    Questions:
    1. Is it supposed to look like this? If not –
    2. Is it because of the memory limit?
    3. Or is it because I just updated from 2.1.5 to 2.2.4? Should I delete and reinstall fresh?

    UPDATE: The User Interface is now back to normal. I think all is well and good. Yipee!!

    Again, this is the best plugin. So straight forward and so helpful. When my website was hacked, this is the plugin that found the files other plugins did not.

    I’m glad you sorted this out! ?? It seems that there was some kind of conflict that was causing Defender stylesheets not to load.
