Critical Error WP Database Backup plug-in

  • Hello. I installed the WP Database Backup plug-in to a new WordPress website I’d set-up and then logged out. When I returned to log-in a got a ‘There has been a critical error on this website.’ which prevented me opening up the site again.

    These are the versions:
    WP Database Backup – 5.8.1
    WordPress – 5.8

    I used the link on the automated WordPress email after a fatal error is picked up to get in to the back-end of the website and to deactivate the WP Database Back-up plug-in and the site then operated normally.

    I activated the plug-in again – and again it crashed the site.

    Any ideas on how I can fix this as it’s a great plug-in. Many thanks. Phil
