• Hi,

I’m having a real problem with my website and I’m unsure how to fix it. One day, I logged onto my website https://www.donnariceproductions.com and for some reason my resume page won’t load and says there is a critical error on the website. When I logged into my website on the admin side the dashboard barely loads and whenever I attempt to try and figure out what is happening on the back end none of the pages will load there either. For example, when I click on Updates, it re-routes back to my home page with a 404 error instead of loading the updates portion on the back end.

I have no idea why this happened or when it happened, and I don’t know how to resolve the issue if I can’t access anything on the backend. I’m also not super adept at this stuff so it’s all very disheartening and confusing.

If you have any idea what I can do, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate any help.

perhaps there was a recent update to a plugin that did not work out that caused the issue. you could login to your webhosting account (dreamhost?) to temporraily deactivate all plugins by renaming the plugins folder to plugins-old. if you are not sure how to find the plugins folder in your webhosting account, please contact your webhosting support team.

deactivating all plugins might help to allow you to get into the WordPress dashboard to start further troubleshooting.

It sounds like there may be a problem with your website’s database or server. Without more information about your website’s setup and the specific error message you’re seeing, it’s difficult to give a definite answer. However, here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check your website’s error logs for more information about the critical error. If you’re using a hosting service, they may have this information available in your account.
    2. Make sure your website’s database is running and accessible. If you’re using a hosting service, they may have a control panel where you can check the status of your database.
    3. Deactivate all plugins and themes on your website to see if the problem is caused by a conflict with one of them.
    4. Check the version of the WordPress core and make sure that it’s updated to the latest version.
    5. Make sure your PHP version meets the requirements of your website.
    6. Back up your website data and consider restoring a backup from a date before the problem began.

These are general troubleshooting steps, and it might not fix the issue, but it’s a start. If you are still unable to resolve the issue, it might be best to contact your hosting provider or a website developer for further assistance.
