• While trying to get akismet to work the whole entire blog has gone belly up, so now what do I do to restore this, I tried to repair it via cpanel and I get this message when I try and go to the blog now, I am honestly just ready to delete the entire blog…

Warning: main(/home/breezie/public_html/ffblog/wp-includes/wp-db.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/breezie/public_html/ffblog/wp-settings.php on line 100

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘/home/breezie/public_html/ffblog/wp-includes/wp-db.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/breezie/public_html/ffblog/wp-settings.php on line 100

    **************************************************

so it seems my wp-settings.php has vanished and yet I deleted nothing ?

  • No, the error message says the wp-settings.php cannot find the /wp-includes/wp-db.php file.

What exactly did you do when “trying to get akismet to work”?
    There isn’t much to do:
    a) activate
    b) insert the API key
    Done.

Thats what I did, when I shut the computer off last night, everything was fine and when I went to login this morning the entire thing was gone and all I get now is that message, I am soooo frustrated right now I could cry.

Did you try re-uploading the wp-db.php file? or the whole wp-includes directory?

where do I find it ?

Hmmm… don’t you have a copy of the WordPress files and directories on your computer? If you don’t, download the version you have and upload the file or the directory.
    Older versions are here: https://www.ads-software.com/download/release-archive/

thx for your help, but when I set this up I had all sorts of people on my site telling me they would help, and its funny how it works because when I always need the help no one is every around and this is just way past my knowledge level and to frustrating for me to try and figure out, I am just going to delete the blog.
