    Hello,

    I have continuously received the following message
    “publicly accessible config/backup/log”

    Each time the warning appears I delete what Wordfence suggests and its resolved and than a new warning message appears about a day later.

    I’d like assistance in resolving this issue.

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @refuge77, thanks for getting in touch.

    I should be able to see the exact details of the file and Wordfence’s message with a diagnostic report from your site after a scan has mentioned it. Can you send one to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

    NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,

    Peter.

    Hi @refuge77, thanks for sending your diagnostic over to us.

    I can indeed see the scan result and also see the publicly visible file from my end so it seems that something isn’t writing corrently when choosing to repair or take action on this file from the scan results.

    Could you try adding the following manually to your .htaccess file?

    <Files "debug.log">
        Require all denied
        Require ip 127.0.0.1
        Require ip Your.Servers.IP.Address
    </Files>

    Your server’s IP address can be found by navigating to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostic > Connectivity and you will see “IP(s) used by this server“.

    Let me know if that helps. There could have been a permissions issue preventing Wordfence from writing changes to take this action itself.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
