• We have been using Authorize.NET for credit card processing, and would like to switch over to CardConnect. Anthorize.NET has been working fine. But after setting up the CardConnect Payment Gateway plugin, we’re getting this error when attempting checkout:

Payment error: A critical server error prevented this transaction from completing. Please confirm your information and try again.

I spoke with CardConnect support twice at length and confirmed that the plugin configuration and credentials are correct. They suspect that there is an issue on the server side, and recommended that I post here.

    Plugin v3.2.7
    WooCommerce v3.9.3
    Wordpress v5.3.2
    PHP v7.3
On a Dreamhost VPS. Ports 6443 and 8443 are open both ways. Dreamhost default DNS servers.

Attempting checkout with all other non-woocommerce plugins deactivated returned the same result.

Watching in the network console, the request to get the Visa logo from woocommerce succeeds, and the request to cardconnect.com:8443 when the card number is entered succeeds.
When completing the form and clicking “Place Order”, the response is the critical server error above.

    Any guidance?

    Hi,

Apologies, to help check this out for you, I’ll need you to contact CardConnect support one more time, and give them an ADMIN WordPress login, and if available, login for your cPanel or hosting account. Ask them to relay that information to me. Tier 2 support should have my contact info.

    Hi @compasscare,

I’ve responded to CardConnect about your issue, and the result is that under testing your site in a controlled environment, we were able to checkout as expected. This lead me to believe that there is a server and possibly CURL related issue. My recommendation was that you contact DreamHost and ask them to investigate why connections to the url boltgw.cardconnect.com is failing.

If you are not able to get results from them, reply here and I’ll follow up with more options.

@rexak It turns out Dreamhost is actually blocking ports 6443 and 8443 on our VPS (got different info from different people there). Hopefully they’ll open them up for us.

    If they won’t, is there a work-around?
