Critique on my site please!

I so remember that animated mailbox ?? I had one with a bird or something flying out of the box when it opened, it was way cool. :)))

I have done them for commercial projects. I could die of shame now. ??

Unless I have a great need to see inside a site, I WON’T click past a splash page. I’m using a satellite connection and I just don’t want to “pay” the b/w costs.

To answer some questions;
I am no graphic designer myself, but I think the logo on the splash page is rather blocky, and need to sort it out.

The reason for the sponsors image is that they are paying the club mega ￡￡￡ in sponsorship, so want to keep them happy.

How can I make the splash page better? My photoshop doesn’t work anymore ??

Change the settings your using for the header image. The text and company logo looks ‘noisy’.

Add a mini-loop and get the latest news article(s) on the front page…. Get rid of big user forums logo, something smaller in a less prime place.

Lose the counter – a good site should have (in my opinion) no need to publicly show the number of hits.

Lose the splash screen, sponsor logo is on main page anyway.

I agree about the splash page, it doesn’t bring anything to the site.

But at the same time, it’s a website targeted to a local group or community so they probably won’t care about that. And if your goal is only to give information to that small community and they all know the URL to your website, you don’t have to care about being indexed.

I like the layout of the page. Regardless of the discussion of the “splash” page, I think the site has a good clean feel to it.

Hi Mellojoe, I am new to wordpress, and trying to create a splash page for a friend, but don’t understand how to go about it. Would you be kind enough to tell me, how did you get your splash page to not show up your theme’s header and links? Any help you can give me would be appreciated…thanks,

I agree with the above, lose the splash page.
I personally don’t care for the color scheme, but that’s me.

Why not use a dazzling scenic photo of your club grounds as the header image?
