Cron job execution?

If you can set up a Unix cron job, do the following:

– Set cache age to an appropriate number.
– Set a Unix cron job to request https://example.org/sitemapindex.xml every x hours/minutes. The x here depends on the cache age you just set, could be cache age divided by 2.

Setting up a cron job iteself should be no problem.
But which file need to be started? ??

bwp-simple-gxs-ms.php
bwp-simple-gxs.php

Or maybe something else?

You can start tools like wget or lynx or others that can ‘visit’ a url, point them to https://yourdomain.com/sitemapindex.xml.

I would like to make a cron job (I know how to make cron jobs);
The cron job needs to activate bwp-google plugin so it will make a new sitemap;
So the cron job could be something like this (an example):
wget -q -O /dev/null “https://www.mydomain.com/somescript.php?action=makexmlsitemap”

So the question is:
which script from the bwp google sitemap plugin should I put into the cron job, so that it will make the sitemap?

Perhaps something like:
wget -q -O /dev/null “https://www.mydomain.com/wp-content/plugins/bwp-google-xml-sitemaps/bwp-simple-gxs-ms.php”

Is the “bwp-simple-gxs-ms.php” script responsable for generating the sitemap?

When the sitemap is visited, and is expired it will be automatically regenerated, that’s why I said earlier that you should set your cron to run every x hours/minutes where x can be cache age divided by 2.

Right now that’s the only way to ‘refresh’ a sitemap, no RESTful APIs around yet.

Don’t be fooled by its extension, it’s not an xml file at all ??

I understand, indeed I was fooled by that.
Suggestion: to put this cron job method in the instructions of the plugin as well.
