In response to your question about CRON, regular traffic on site, which triggers WP cron, and that cron triggers email sending and ensures timely delivery. 

If there isn’t sufficient traffic on the site then the admin will need to set up an external cron service for timely delivery.

Thank you for confirming that. I added a cron and spoke with Hostinger and they said it’s set-up correctly.

However, in the backend of Icegram Express->Email Notifications there are some settings: https://ibb.co/t27y3Ff.

Since my host says the cronjob is correct and is expected to work, do I need to tweak those settings?

Additionally, do I need any kind of SMTP plugin on the site? I’ve installed WP Mail SMTP but it’s not set-up fully. Do I really need this if the cronjob is expected to work?

Lastly, I had used the default WP Cron to send out emails prior to realizing I needed a more robust cron job via my host. It sent out 168 out of 326 emails. Is there a way to get the rest to go?

The screenshot you shared, Ibb.co is causing the error “ibb.co?refused to connect.”. Therefore, we were not able to view it.

Please find my response below to your questions.

1) It is not necessary for you to setup the CRON job if the host has already created it.

2) Regarding the SMTP plugin, Hostinger itself recommends setting up WP mail SMTP for better email delivery. If you have not setup the WP Mail SMTP Plugin yet, you can refer to this document.

3) It depends on your email sending limit set by your hosting provider. You can ask your host about your email sending limit and update that in Icegram Express > Settings > Email Sending.

Thank you for responding.

I think we’re getting closer to what needs to be done. I may need to be pointed in the right direction to go. To clarify further –

1. I’ve set-up a Cron with the host as shown here, here, and here.

As I set-up a Cron with the host, I don’t need to mess around with the settings here, right? All the settings can be ignored? Do I need to change the mailer? Or do I need to double-check something?

2. My understanding with my host is that I can send 200 emails an hour. Based on the images, I should be able to send 200 emails in the first hour and then the rest in the next, right?

However, I don’t seem to be able to send the rest of the emails? Is there a way to trigger the rest of the emails to be sent? See image here.

3. If I have a Cron job set-up do I need a mailer?

4. If I set-up the WP Mail SMTP Plugin (free version), what mailer do I select in Icegram? Or does it not matter?

5. If I set-up the WP Mail SMTP correctly and I can get a test email sent to myself and if my cron is set-up correctly, the expectation is that when I make a post on my site, 200 post notifications will be sent out in the first hour and the rest in the 2nd, right?

Is there a way to test that without actually sending out emails?

Thanks for your response. Please find the answers below.

1. (1) Yes, everything seems to be fine here. You can send the test email and check if it is received.
2. (2) Correct!
3. (3) The rest of the emails will be automatically triggered within the time frame set. Your host mailer (WP mail) is responsible for sending emails, whereas corn is responsible for triggering the sending of emails in batches at intervals of time.
4. (4) Please select WP Mail if you’re using the lite version of the plugin.
5. (5) Correct!
6. Regarding the tests, I recommend that you check this article and send the post notification.
