Cron Update not working

Hi, I downloaded (and uploaded ?? ) cron_update.php, change lines 5-12 accordly, but I have a constant “NOT ABLE TO CONNECT TO DATABASE”.
Any idea? Is this method still better than the CRON JOB in the plugin?
