Crop to min/max width – flexible height

I have more and more come to realize that front end developers and designers only really worry about the width of images – as it may break design or responsiveness. Height they don’t worry about, and in my work place it is the one factor users can play around with to customize their content (appart from the image itself of course).

I love this plugin – and I have come to appreciate ACF. However there is one feature I miss. The ability to set a fixed forced with of a crop, but a dynamic height. The minimum dimensions crop option comes close to this – but allows users to create too wide images.

Is it at all possible to plugin this plugin-plugin? :). Perhaps you could implement hooks and filters to the cropping options and methods?
