Hello. I hope you’re doing great! I had this same exact problem 4.5 ago months and that topic is resolved. It has happened again…. Something is cropping my photos.

For the link above, I want my photos to be the same size as the “Blue and White Earrings”, not the square-sized ones. The square cuts off my products. I’ve written specific code for the taller size, which is the size that I want.
Why does this keep happening? I don’t change a thing. Something is changing this for me and I do not want these product photos changed at all. They need to all be the taller sizes.

Thank you for any help that you may offer. They suggested a couple of things 4.5 months ago, but none of it worked. I fixed it, but I can’t remember how or what I did (yes, I’ll write it down next time).

    Thank you!!

If you go to Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Images you can change the cropped image settings. Your theme may also influence that, and you can find more helpful information to troubleshoot your issue here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/image-sizes-theme-developers/

You can use the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails after changing any settings for images already uploaded.

If you need to add/tweak any code, make sure you do it outside of your theme (this plugin helps with that) as my guess is that you overwrote whatever changes you made last time with an update.

    I hope this helps!

Thank you so much, Zach! You know what? I’ll bet that the update messed it up. That’s why I was using a child theme (to keep my website the same way that I made it), but was told that I didn’t need to. But I’m thinking that I should use one to keep this from happening because, now that I’m thinking about it, this started happening about when I switched from the child to the parent theme…. So using the child theme is the best thing to do?
    Thank you again so much!

    Glad that helped!

It does sound like you may have made the adjustments in the child theme, as it makes sense if you started having issues after you stopped using that.

The child theme is fine if you plan on continuing to use the same theme, but if you ever switch themes, you’d lose the adjustments (which may be fine, depending on how the theme ties in with WooCommerce).

Are you all set here, or do you need a bit more help?

Thank you again SO much! Let me see if switching to the child theme works. I’ll let you know and either ask another question or close the topic. ??

Hello! Ok, so the child theme does not work, it looks awful. I really just want my site to stay the way that I have made it. What can I do to keep these updates from changing my settings? I’m regenerating my photos, but don’t want to have to every single time they update…
    Thank you so much!
