We have an uploaded media saved in Chinese name. Once we cropped the thumbnails and press “save”, it will become nothing and we find that the file path cannot display the chinese part.

If we changed to english name, everything is alright. So, we were wondering if we could settle this issue by ourselves or we need to wait until the Chinese version of this plugin comes out?

    Thank you.

    Hi Volkmar,

Thanks for your prompt reply, but we were wondering how can we provide the example file to you as we cannot reply you with attachment here.

Or, you may just rename any image file as e.g. 中文名.jpg , and upload, crop & save.

Please feel free to let us know if you need any further information, many thanks.

    hi,
i tested an image with this name on one of my servers where i can crop 5 different image-sizes. I got a problem on one of the image-sizes (the user cropped without a problem). The one that didnt work lacks the original name of the image and only uses the size-part of the name. Didnt know exactly why at the moment. Obviously is not a generell problem. But i will have a deeper look on it.

Did you try to crop on different image sizes? Are there problems on all image-sizes?

The language settings of your server also may have an influence in the problem.

    Hi Volkmar,

We are using “Hong Kong – Chinese” in Language setting of WordPress & Apache server setting is UTF-8, and yes, we’ve exactly the same problem (“The one that didnt work lacks the original name of the image and only uses the size-part of the name”) as you stated but the problem applied to ALL image-sizes (even simply clicking in and pressing “save” without any changes), which may related to my theme (just wild guess).

    Hi,
sorry for the long delay. I just released version 1.2.5 with should handle utf8-filenames better than before. You may have to reupload the file (didn’t test this).

    Hi Volkmar,
We’ve tested and it’s alright! Many thanks.
