• So, the new Media Uploader… New to me, running 3.3.1.

The thumbnails it automatically creates are rarely perfect for what I do, so I thought the new “Edit Image” was going to be perfect for me.

I hit Edit Image, and see the Aspect Ratio setting.. I set it to 1:1 and drag the crop tool over the images… First of all, it doesn’t stick to the ratio so I have to drag it so the numbers match, or type in the numbers. Then I see that it looks like I can make this change ONLY to the thumbnail.. Perfect! I click that button.

Then I hit “Save” and nothing happens. At least as far as I can tell. It seems as if the Save button doesn’t work. The cancel button does though. I’ve tried a couple different browsers, Firefox, Safari, on the Mac and can’t get it to work.

Am I even doing this right, or am I trying to do something that can’t be done?

Anyone? I’m assuming this is not a common problem since no one has responded.

You need to click the crop button (the first image button under “update media”) to crop then click ok to save the crop.

Gah! Well, there it is. That’s not very intuitive to me, but what do I know. I just use image editing software all day. ??

Here’s the other issue that arises. It generates a whole new thumbnail image file, so I have to go back and edit my post to display the new file name… which is long as hell.

I guess you can’t have everything.

THANKS for your help. L D.
