    hi,

I have a variable product. Variations: variable A (1 USD) and variable B (2 USD).

I’d like to define Variable B as upsell of Variable A. But couldn’t find . There is no upsell cross-sell definition area under variations, WooCommerce seems to allow to setup cross-sell, upsell for only mother product.

How can I solve this problem?

There might be a workaround for this, if you are not overly attached to SKUs.

You could create a duplicate of this product, only with the higher price point, and hide it from the shop using the catalog visibility options on the product:

Then you could add this product as an upsell option. Would that work for you?

hi @valedeoro, thanks for reaching out. I thought about your suggestion, but i have too many variable products like that (250 gr, 500 gr,1000 gram variation etc) and creating too many products and that workaround would be not feasible solution. Upsell section could allow to put higher priced variation (the philosophy of upsell is that)

While WooCommerce does allow you to add about any product to your upsell section, you can still choose only the higher priced variations:

We prefer not to force anything because sometimes the lower priced product is actually the more profitable one (in case where it’s a subscription, for example).

    Does that help?

Hmm. I want to put upsell to variation selections. Currently it allows parent variable product only.

    Imagine this scenario:
let’s say I put variable B, as upsell to mother product.

A customer visited my product page and add Variable B to cart.

He / she went to cart. So would they see Variable B as upsell in their cart page?

(and that would be not I wanted. Because they already have Variable B in their cart, but I would show them Variable B again as upsell. ( Kinda “You bought apple, would like to buy apple?”) i would miss the upsell opportunity by showing Variable B again. )

I hope I explained my issue clearly?

WooCommerce’s core functionality is you can only add upsells/cross sells to the main product, so you cannot add an upsell of a $25 variation to buy the $35 version instead.

It might be possible with some custom code, but won’t be possible with core WooCommerce.

Let’s cross finger for future version then. Thanks all.
