I have a MultiSite. CrossPost in NOT network activated. I have used CrossPost for a very long time – without issue.
The function is working – crossposting.

PROBLEM: I open any page in the admin of a site or my network for the first time in a sesion I get an entire page of one error warning repeated a dozen times.

a). It happens one time for each site and network admin. I mean: New visit by me…open any page to access site admin, get a wall of errors. Go to a different site and access admin, get a wall of errors. Go to network admin, get a wall of errors. But not all sites, not always.

b). I turned on debugging. I didn’t see any errors or messages.

c). Crossposting is working. (It is not network activted. The sites that have it activated, it works.)

d). Everything else, sites, network, and admins, work fine.

e).I have been ignoring it and working as usual.

    Error Message:

“Crossposting to WordPress.com failed. Unfortunately, I have no idea what WordPress.com is talking about. Consider asking WordPress.com Support for help. Tell them you are using WordPress Crosspost, that you got the error shown above, and ask them to please support this tool. ‘Cause, y’know, it’s not like you don’t already have a WordPress blog, and don’t they want you to use theirs, too?

Additionally, you may want to turn on WordPress Crosspost’s “Enable detailed debugging information?” option to get more information about this error the next time it happens.”

    Thank you

    I created a new WP.com App. Connected to WP.com

And then I jumped the gun…I re-activated the plugins, site and network. Went to a subsite to activate WP CrossPost – but got the errors again. Back to plugins one by one.

It may be an plugin called Plugin Grabber. I deleted it from both MultiSites. I have not had an error yet. I will update you.

Apologies for not having done all this first, before posting a thread.

Thrilled to have this plugin back in action. Otherwise, my sites’ purposes would be greatly compromised.

Are you talking about this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/plugin-grabber/ If you can confirm, I can have a look at its code and see if there is an incompatibility that I can fix on my side. Otherwise, it might be worth your time to write to the Plugin Grabber author and have them look at possible incompatibilities so they can fix it on their side. I’d be happy to work with the Plugin Grabber author to help.

Hi, thank you. Yes, that was the plugin, but it is not the only problem. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/plugin-grabber/

I had deleted Plugin Grabber, as I said yesterday. The problem is back today, but only appeared when I went to the WP plugin installer (catalog) page. Then I got a super long repeated list of the one error.

(I have been working today on a post I started last night – no problems. I have been importing images via URL, previewing, creating a gallery, etc. I have not published yet. I went to the WP Plugin Installer Catalog to search for a plugin – and the error wall came up above the page contents.)

I am concerned that I cannot pin this down. If I must check each plugin and wait hours or until the next day – it will be difficult. My sites won’t be usable during that time.

I will check my other MultiSite to see if the error reoccurs on that install. Yes the errors are there too – as soon as I loaded the admin side.

Both (MultiSites) repeated error lists are much much longer than before, 48 mouse scroll wheel spins to reach the content of the page.

I am sorry I am not helpful. I will see if the crossposting works. If it does, I may ignore it until something breaks apart.

Oh maybe not – it is happening too frequently, but these only have 7 repeated errors about the contents now.

The outgoing network activity will show you when WP Crosspost tries to connect to WordPress.com. This should only happen when you save a post, or when a plugin saves a post. If this is happening when you’re not expecting, that could be a problem with your setup. But that very much depends on your setup. ?? Only you know what the baseline for your site should be, what should be considered normal

It’s trying to connect when no posting is occurring. That is not the norm. So something in my setup is triggering this, maybe?

The reason it was not happening last night and today while I was working on a post is because I did/do not have WP CrossPost activated on that subsite.

    Rats!
