• I have two WordPress sites hosted by GoDaddy.com. One is relatively new (9 months old) while the other one has been around since 2010. It is this old-timer that’s giving me problems.

Site # 2 will no longer notify me of plug-in updates, etc. Site # 1 will.
Yesterday, I suddenly discovered I could no longer upload media. The file gets there but nothing ever happens with it. Site # 1 works as expected.

Site # 2 is slow to refresh pages. Site # 1 works as expected.

Site # 2 will halt in the middle of updating & I have to use the browser refresh to finish things up.

All this is in the admin area. The only thing noticeable on the front-end is the slow page refresh.

There are other minor annoyances which have crept in like plugins no longer working as expected.

I have tried disabling most of the plugins but that doesn’t seem to help.

Do I dump the database, wipe the site and start over? Since I have a another WP site hosted by GoDaddy under the same account, I’m not sure that this has anything to do with the server.

    Any suggestions?

  • Are both sites running the current version of WordPress? When did you last try repairing the database on the bad site? Are you limiting revisions on the bad site? How large is its database?

I re-ran the DB repair just a few min. ago. No change in behaviour. Both sites run the same version of WP. (4.2.2) Revisions are limited. Here’s the DB stats:
    Tables: 67
    Records: 1,368,988
    Data Usage: 184.0 MiB
    Index Usage: 59.8 MiB
    Overhead: 2.7 MiB

Reduced size of DB by 90%. Still no change in behaviour. Would reinstalling WP help?
