CSS Class of Placeholder Text

What is the CSS class of the placeholder text entered in the default value line? Looking at the code, it would seem like input[type=”placeholder”] would do the trick, but that doesn’t have any effect (I’ve also tried default and default-value).

I’ve made a special field ID to try to change the color, too, but it changes everything except the placeholder text.
