CSS Design – Can This Be Done?

  • Hello,

    We made a fairly strange/unique design to our front page blog system and I was simply wondering if it can be mimicked in WordPress, as it’s currently a Greymatter Blog?

    If so, does anyone know of where to contact a WordPress Designer to do that for us as I don’t know how to do it?

    Also, is it possible to run 2 separate copies of WordPress on my website? I ask this because they are in different locations and for different purposes.

  • Wow, Greymatter! That’s a blast from the past.

    Check out the WP Pro mailing list. You can post your project there and WP Pros can respond with their quotes and you can take it from there.

    You can run as many separate copies of WP as you have server space for. You can even run many copies of WP on the same database as long as you give each a unique table prefix. (This is done by editing the wp-config.php file.)

    You’ll love WP; it is so much more powerful than GM. I used GM for about a year in 2002 and loved it.

    Oh we have a WordPress, I just realized that I really liked it, and would like to switch the greymatter one to it as well.

    My only problem is that I don’t know if we can match that design that we pulled off in greymatter.

    As you can tell in comparison to WordPress, there is no side category information shown. It’s more like an Archived Entry with no Tags, Category Lists, Pages, etc, or no sidebar.

    Well, in GM, if I’m not mistaken, there is a header and a footer section, then the main section where you put the “log” code? That is where the “guts of Greymatter is. You should be able to pretty much track that in header.php, index.php and footer.php. Just make sure you grab all the header info that WP needs (check the default header.php file) and pull it all together. You won’t need sidebar.php then.
