• Hello there! According to a few site ranking pages I need to move my files to an external file. My web host does not agree to this but it is affecting my page rank. Does WordPress actually have a recommendation on this either way?

What do you mean move your files to an external file?

Well, you see, I’m in a little bit of a dispute with the manager of my site. Here is what I want from my web designer as recommended by many site checkers and analysis tools. What does wordpress actually recommend?

What I want – It is a good practice to move all the inlines CSS rules into an external file in order to make your page “lighter” in weight and decrease the code to text ratio.

Their respoonse – WordPress uses a combination of external style sheets, header styles, and inline styles. Changing the way WordPress displays these styles may adversely affect the website. I do not recommend adjusting these or changing these in anyway.

    Thanks!!!

    Hi jwharff,

Because some plugins insert on page or inline styles, what you are asking for is most likely not feasible, but let’s not get hung up on a fine detail of the bigger picture, which is that you want your site to run efficiently and load pages quickly. When optimizing a site, there are many factors involved.

Here are a couple of links to good info and tips for optimizing WordPress:

    Hope these help!
