CSS not working

How well the included stylesheets work out depends entirely on your theme.

It sounds like you’ve tried the other included stylesheets, but there are other possibilities for working with CSS. See Customizing Forms in the User Guide.

Also, if you are using the new Twenty Fourteen theme (as it seems a lot of people are), I have a new Twenty Fourteen stylesheet that was going to be included with the 2.9 update. But since it doesn’t appear that any of the current stylesheets are well suited to Twenty Fourteen, I’ll probably release an incremental update with that and some minor changes in the next day or so.
