• Hello everyone I’m new here and hope someone can help me with my issue.

I have installed the test version of the local business theme and try to customize the form a bit with CSS. With firebug I see that I have to change my css.file in line 79 to change the background color. If I turn off this background color in firebug I get the result I want. But the problem is when I go to the original css file and comment out the background color nothing happen (changes). What is also funny is if I take the hole css rules and post them into the theme custom css option the output of the page is different.I don’t understand!!!

What I also not understand is: I did a local instalation via xampp and if I change there the original css file I get the result I want. Why don’t I get the same result on my actual installation?

    Thanks for any help.

    Cheers

  • From what you describe, your hosting provider is probably caching your pages. You may need to force a refresh (check your browser’s documentation) to see any changes.

Thanks for your feedback. I opened the page with the chrome browser and there it reflects the css right.Strange why does it reflect the page with the firefox browser correctly in case I use wordpress via xampp and as soon as I open the page via my local provider it doesn’t???

Do you use any caching plugins on your hosted (not XAMPP) WordPress installation? Since you mentioned Firefox, try holding Shift and clicking the Refresh button. That will force Firefox to bypass the cache and directly reload the site.

You’re right on my hosted installation I use the W3 Total Cache Plugin but I don’t use this plugin one on my XAMPP installation. Do you think it would be wise to deactivate that Plugin untill I finished all my changes? By the way with Shift and Refresh it displyed the page correctly.

If the site is already live, I’d keep the caching plugin active and just use Shift+Refresh.
