• I’ve read about Alex King’s CSS Switcher, but he told me he doesn’t think it will work for WP 2.x, and I can’t find anything that will do the trick easily.

I just want a drop down box (in widget form would kick ass) that lets my user select their preferred style sheet! Does this exist, or what? Is there any easy way to do this?

  • Hmmm. Well…. hmmm. I *think* one way to do this would be to set up variations of the theme using different stylesheets, then use Ryan Boren’s themeswitcher to allow dropdown sidebar selection.

Not sure where the themeswitcher is living these days; if the idea works for you, and you can’t find the file, email me at vkaryl_at_bytehaven*dot*com, and I’ll send it along.

I came across the themeswitcher earlier today. It would be way too complicated to do a whole separate theme just to change the CSS of my page. Any change I do to my theme/layout, I’d have to do like 8 times.

Anyone know about a CSS switcher?

Since version 1.5 there is ONLY themes switcher.

Well, if it’s just colors, then changes to the theme wouldn’t make much difference to the stylesheets. You could always set the color-changes up as separate stylesheets to @import….

I want to keep the same style, everything except one aspect of my CSS. I just want to be able to change the header image, and that is within the CSS. I have made several different header images and I want the user to be able to click a link/dropdown and have it change. Switching the stylesheet would be the easiest way to do this…

There’s really no way other than constructing however many dupes of your theme you need to show the different headers. The only real downside to doing it that way is the amount of space, though maybe that’s not something you need to worry over anyway….

Now…. for a possible “food for thought” alternative, check out the Vistered-Little theme from https://vistered.scarylittlemonkey.com/

I don’t know if you can parlay the clickable background thumbs into clickable header thumbs, but it may be worth a look anyway.

Yeah, I’ve already got Vistered Little… it’s pretty cool. But I love Cordobo, and I spent all day designing for it. Maybe I’ll email the author of Vistered.

Anyone else know about how I might be able to do this? How can there not be a widget for this?

How can there not be a widget for this?

Probably because, at the end of the day, this is much more a “web design” question than it is a WordPress issue.
