Checked your sample CSV file, the only headings that don;t work for me are categories and tags, I get the error message “error adding categories to post – invalid taxonomy”… Have no idea where this is coming from. Help!

Other problem is if I create a download manually, I can use the same picture for inserting in post AND featured image, EDD will create automatically a thumbnail for the featured image within the /EDD/2013/month/ folder…

As far as I can see, this doesn’t work with the CSV import as it stands – I end up with a huge featured image when I specify a file in the IMAGE FILE cell of the CSV import file…
is there a way to get same result as with the ”normal” process?

Also for those uploading photos to create download galleries by category, I recommend in the date field of your CSV file to increment time for each file – that way you keep the order of pics as per upload…

    Hi chrrev,

If you download the plugin and unzip it there is a sample CSV file included – “edd-import-sample.csv” (looks like you found this).

The categories and tags listed in the CSV either need to exist, or they are added. If you are receiving an error this is coming from wp_insert_term() and you can check here for how that’s used:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Function_Reference/wp_insert_term

The taxonomies should ideally be one word.

You are correct the import adds the image, but does not create thumbnails as if the download was added manually. This might be added in a future version, but at the moment is not available.

Hi Daniel thanks for your answer.
Categories don’t work at my end, no matter what I try with name, ID etc. I don’t know if conflict with theme or what but can’t find out…So I end up having to reassign manually all categories. :-((
Regarding the images I think in future would be great for the batch import to behave just like the single creation of a download – must be already coded in EDD somewhere…Not sure what the increase in processing time would be, but so much better… I have hundreds of photos to make downloadable… ONe wee shortcut is to include a code in the ”Description” field to fetch the main image of the post – but really only half a solution.

Hi, I think this could be a great addition to digital downloads! I would love to be able to upload with multiple price options for each download. This is the main reason why using edd is cumbersome for me. Each photo I upload has several price choices. All the same each time so I have to re-enter them for every single new photo. Very repetitive and time consuming. I was hoping to use the csv import to set those up and have them ready to go, but am not finding a way to do this. Maybe a suggestion for future upgrades? Thanks for the hard work and great plugin!

@aetherdesign Sorry for the slow reply. That is definitely something that we will be looking to add in the future.
