CSV import

Sorry that you’re running into issues here. We need to gather a bit more information first.

– What version of BD are you running?
– What version of WP?
– Can you provide a sample CSV with no more than 3 rows, that shows this problem?

Is there some pattern to the break? I’m guessing that your description fields MAY be including commas in them, which is considered a breaking character for a CSV file. Try putting that description field enclosed in quotes to allow the full import of that field.

Still having issues after putting quotations around the description. Doesn’t seem to cut at the commas just random points.

I am using BD version – 3.0.2 – and WP version – 3.5.1

Where would you like me to upload the CSV file to?

I’ve attached a link to the site so you can see how the descriptions are cutting off when you click one of the results.

Is it cutting fields at a comma? Is that where the break happens? (Just to be clear)

I would suggest putting the simple 3-row CSV file on your site and linking to it here. That would be easiest, I think.

No its not cutting where commas are present its cutting at random times in a sentence.

OK, looking at the file directly, have you tried eliminating the embedded quotes (e.g. ‘THE’ becomes THE, etc)? Since you reuse embedded quotes in multiple places, it may prematurely terminate the description field.

That may fix things for you.

I have tried that been through and removed any quotes from the text still making no different, seems to be randomly cutting off at certain points.

Any other ideas?

What is the source of your data? Are you just hand-entering these fields or scraping it from somewhere? Or is something else generating them?
