I am struggling to get the CSV format right to import into my website. I have downloaded the template and tried uploading it. I’ve gone through this help page but it give links to outside sites which aren’t that helpful.

I found another help article here which tells me to import venues, organisers and events separately (examples here) – when I try to import that example CSV into my site that also doesn’t work.

Are you able to provide me with an up to date CSV example that might work please?

I have a large number of events to set up and need this functionality. I’ve paid for the CSV importer as part of the Core+ and it would be great to have this feature.

    Thank you.
    Rob

My apologies, the links in the second paragraph above reference another calendar tool. I am still struggling to get this going and need help.

I have found that I can import the test calendar event provided by Time.ly, but when I add my own events underneath the CSV, I get this error:

All-in-One Event Calendar has been disabled due to an error:
Argument 1 passed to Ai1ec_Ics_Import_Export_Engine::_is_timeless() must be of the type array, null given, called in /home/learni67/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/lib/import-export/ics.php on line 256 and defined

HELP! I urgently need to get this going as it is a key aspect of my business.

    Hi Rob,

Can you please provide a CSV file you were trying to import.

    Hi Benjamin,

Here is the CSV file – it’s taken straight from the demo one provided on the Time.ly site.

I’ve left the sample data in there of Iron Man which is importing well. The other two lines starting with description CES aren’t though and I can’t figure out why… yet it is saying that 3 events were imported!

    [screenshot here…]

The only way I can get the import to work at all is if I copy/paste data into the sample CSV without changing it at all. For example, if I create my own spreadsheet with the same data using the same headings, then save as a CSV, it won’t accept it.

I am using Microsoft Office for Mac, so am wondering if I need to save the CSV as something else such as Windows comma separated or MS-DOS comma separated?

If I try to copy/paste from the CSV that doesn’t work either.

I need permission to access your files.

Done, you should be able to access them now Ben.

    Hi robcnz!

I’ve just requested access to your CSV file. I will take care of this issue.

    Thanks!

    done thanks Calvin

    Hi robcnz!

I opened the Google Spreadsheet and downloaded as CSV file. I tried to import in my calendar and all 3 events were imported successfully.

Can you give me more details about your environment so I can simulate here?

I need the versions you are running of:

    – WordPress
    – PHP
    – All in one event calendar plugin
    – All in one event calendar CVS feed plugin

    Thanks!

    (@robcnz)

Would it be easier to just give you access to my site? I’ll check the WP/database details and get back to you tomorrow.

    Hi robcnz!

Sure, we can try that! Please, create an account and send the credentials to my email.

    Thanks!

    Done, thanks Calvin!

hey @robcnz, in our recent 2.3.9 release we’ve made the CSV import process smoother. You escalation drove us to add automatically detection of line ending style and fixed CSV import issues for files created in Mac OS X.

    Thanks for your help,
    Aristotel
