Curious issue with edit panel in Block Editor?

  • Has anyone else experienced writing a post only to have the right hand side disappear? Split down the middle, although the right sidebar still functions. Almost like there’s a second missing column (although I’m only using the single column? And when I am able to publish a post, the layout bears little resemblance to my original draft. I know nothing about coding so perhaps I’m in the wrong area. Please excuse me. But I do know what I’m currently experiencing is turning me off my website. Someone please help!

    Hi @adrianc027, I haven’t experienced this myself, but it sure sounds frustrating!

    I know you can click on the gear icon in the top right hand corner, which hides and shows the column to the right, is that what you are referring to, perhaps? If you don’t have a block selected, and you are in the Block part of the right sidebar, it does look suspiciously empty (it will only say No block selected.).

    Something that I like to do to check out what my post looks like before I publish is to use the preview function! To access that, when you are writing a post, click on Preview in the top right hand corner. That will help you see what your post looks like before you publish.

    I hope this helps! If this doesn’t address the problems you are facing, would you mind providing some extra details around the issue, such as what “split down the middle” means?
