• Resolved Linked Local Network

I’ve been using Powerpress with no issue for the past 3 months. I’ve been able to import my show episodes from BlogTalkRadio without any issues. Yesterday when I tried to import the latest show episode I received the following error: Importing Podcast
    From URL https://www.blogtalkradio.com/linkedlocalnetwork/podcast

cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 1776090 out of 1895470 bytes received

If I use the https version of the link the import runs but finds no episodes to import.

I’ve deactivated caching plugins and security plugins and it still fails.

I did an import of 2 episodes last Tuesday and everything ran perfectly.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’ve worked with Namecheap tech support. They have confirmed newest version of php and Curl. They also increased The max_execution_time parameter from the defaultof 30 seconds to 90 and the error persists.

Namecheap has disabled the security module on my hosting account and I still get the From URL https://www.blogtalkradio.com/linkedlocalnetwork/podcast

Namecheap confirms that the server and website arent showing any errors in the logs. They are pointing the finger at the Powerpress plugin.

The error you are receiving is a timeout error when PowerPress tires to download meta information from your episode media files. During the migration process PowerPress hits or pings the media URL to make sure it exists and gets information such as the audio file size and duration time. It appears the URLs of the media files on Blog Talk radio are very slow at the moment. I just tried in my browser to go to one of your episodes (https://www.blogtalkradio.com/linkedlocalnetwork/2018/08/23/pillars-of-franchising-what-are-the-steps-to-buying-a-franchise.mp3) and my browser took 27 seconds for BlogTalkRadio to respond with sending back the media file, then it took over . Unfortunately, PowerPress is using the default time out set in WordPress, which is 10 seconds, or 10000 milliseconds as you are observing.

As you confirmed the problem is not with your web hosting, and as I have just explained, the problem is also not with PowerPress. The problem is with the media host of your mp3 files, blogtalkradio.

I would contact BlogTalkRadio, it may be that hey are currently having technical difficulties and this is only a temporarily problem.

Be forewarned: If BlogTalkRadio does not fix their issue you may get removed from Apple Podcasts or other podcast apps, as well as have listeners very frustrated when they try to play your podcasts and it takes 20+ seconds before something starts to download/play.

    Thanks,
    Angelo

    Hello @fredmcmurray,

I am not sure I understand “manual upload”. Where ever you upload your media to, you need the URL to that media file to be from a source that can perform well for podcasting. Simply uploading the media file anywhere may lead to issues like those you are having now. The following page to our podcasting manual explains the details needed to host podcast media. For the most part hosting on your own server will cause issues, so does hosting with a service that may do blocking for various reasons, such as CloudFlare. Podcast Media Hosting explained: https://create.blubrry.com/manual/internet-media-hosting/

As for BlogTalkRadio, they are still having technical issues, you need to contact them to find out when they will have them resolved.
