cURL error 60 on new, local WP site

Did you download the .pem file locally?
https://curl.haxx.se/ca/cacert.pem

Once you save it locally under c:\xampp, you need to tell XAMPP where it is by editting your php.ini file like this:

Add this to your php.ini file:
curl.cainfo = “c:\xampp\cacert.pem”

Then Stop and Start Apache:

Thanks a lot for your answer! I have followed your steps but, unfortunately, I still get the error.

My only deviation from your steps is that, in my php.ini file, I replaced
curl.cainfo=”C:\xampp\apache\bin\curl-ca-bundle.crt”
with
curl.cainfo=”C:\xampp\apache\bin\cacert.pem”.

Would you have other ideas in mind? ??

Do you have a firewall turned on? Maybe your port is blocked.

You can also test running curl from your windows terminal like this:

I wanted to try adding a phpinfo.php file to check curl.exe status but now my wordpress site cannot access the wordpress database. So I’ll need to dig into the errors raised by phpMyAdmin… I am not at the end of my journey!
