This is the message I keep getting when trying to set up the Site Kit. I have tried multiple times and have even reset it.

“Oops! There was a problem during setup. Please try again.
Unknown Error (code: cURL error 7: ).”

    It also says this:

“Your site may not be ready for Site Kit
Looks like your site is having a technical issue with requesting data from Google services.
To get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message:
    google_api_connection_fail”

I have tried over and over again. Kindly help me out, please

Thanks for reaching out. Based on the error message it sounds like there may be action required at host level in order for Site Kit to successfully connect. Can you share your Site Health information privately via this form while including your current hosting provider where requested?

After sharing your Site Health information please share whether you have any firewall or hosting security feature active on your site if known.

@sellassie Hi there! Are you still having trouble getting Site Kit set up? If so, can you please share your Site Health information privately via this form so we can help you troubleshoot? Thanks!

@sellassie Many thanks for sharing your Site Health information. As nothing stands out from inspection can you check with your hosting provider than your site is able to communicate with https://sitekit.withgoogle.com.

This can be checked with wp-cli using the following command:
    wp eval 'print_r(wp_remote_head("https://sitekit.withgoogle.com"));'

You may also need to check your hosting configurations, with cURL errors not something we can resolve on the plugin side. You’ll find more details this GitHub issue, or by reviewing another users experience in this support topic or a related GitHub issue.

Rather than asking your hosting provider as an alternative you can check if the same occurs from another WordPress install on the same hosting provider.

Let me know if you have any questions on the above.

    Hello @sellassie ,

Just checking-in here to confirm were you able to setup Site Kit? Please don’t forget to reach out to your host provider to whitelist Site Kit service to setup Site Kit.

    Best Regards,

@sellassie As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
