Current Page Item – Visually Indicate Current Page

I’m trying to style the links in the WP Mobile Menu navigation so that the menu items are visually a different color when the user is on the current page. For example, if all menu items are black, then I’d like the current page that i am on to render as red. I am trying to target the class ‘current-page-item’ in the code but it is not working. I’m using the following CSS and it is not working. Any suggestions
