I have created a new post today and it is not showing on the main page of the blog (https://booktumbling.com/)
It is showing in the admin area in the posts section and if you click on “view” it pulls up the post but when you click on home, the post before it is showing as the latest. It is also not showing in the recent posts widget on the right sidebar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The latest post is definitely not being output on your Home page (ie it’s not being hidden by a CSS problem or something similar) so it would seem that there may be something in your theme’s index.php that’s excluding this post. Can you see anything obvious in terms of the categories that this post is filed under?

Dropping a copy of your theme’s index.php into the WordPress pastebin and posting the pastebin link here might help.

Thanks so much for the response. It doesn’t appear there is anything wrong with the categories. The post is showing up in for the categories that are assigned to it.
Here is the link to the index.php:

Just an FYI, I created and published another post today and it is showing just fine. Thanks for any help!

Can you try re-assigning the 02 Nov post to the book meme category to see if that helps? The index.php code isn’t much help. I forgot that everything is pretty much buried away within custom functions in Atahualpa. Also, what plugins are you currently running?

I have a similar problem at https://beespace.net. Yesterday I wrote https://beespace.net/how-do-you-connect-online/ and it appeared neither on the front page nor in the sitemap but it showed up in the RSS feed.
The post finally came up on both pages when I forced it to appear by using the sticky option. However, I believe this is not the regular behaviour of a blog – posts should just appear if you publish and make them public . The sticky factor is just for emphasis on a particular post.
Any idea on how to solve the problem? Thanks for any suggestions.

Changing the category did work. The post is now showing on the main page. I just added 2 new categories, book review and book giveaway, and it is also working. Should I discontinue the review and giveaway category? Not a biggie, just need to go back and change the categories for the other posts. I am using Akismet, Announcement and vertical scroll, Commentluv, Fast and Secure Contact Form, Feedburner Feedsmith, Sideposts widget, Sociable, Twitterlink comments, and Yet another related posts plugin.
    Again, cannot thank you enough!

Excellent. That also suggests that the theme may be configured to exclude certain categories from the front page. Is there anything with the theme’s custom options that allows you exclude categories?

There’s an outside chance that it’s one of the plugins. You could try publishing a test post in the problem category then deactivating all of the plugins. Check the front page to see if your test post appears. If it does, then it’s one of the plugins. Re-activating them one at a time – checking the front page listing after each re-activation – should help you to narrow down the culprit.
