The plugin is currently enabled in community mode. <— please can someone explain this phrase I’m seeing in the admin area, does it mean the plugin isn’t working fully, correctly?

It just means you’re using the free version of the product, not W3 Total Cache Pro. Has nothing to do with your configuration.
