This message appears when the function $product->is_purchasable() returns false (https://github.com/wc-donation/wc-donation-platform/blob/bec0ce1b5aed143bdc0d856798957f6d3a125a67/includes/class-wcdp-form.php#L102). So this means that this is actually not a behavior controlled by Donation Platform for WooCommerce but rather WooCommerce and WooCommerce Subscriptions. Are you using WooCommerce Subscriptions or Subscriptions for WooCommerce?
