This site, for a Seattle mural painter, has the site title curved into an arch shape: Anne Rainbow.
I did this by hard-coding the site title, wrapping each letter in <span> tags, and positioning them with inline-block and CSS 3. This way at least the title can still be an H1.

Can anyone can think of a simpler way to do it? Its a child theme of twentyten, BTW.

Why not an image done in InDesign or Photoshop? That will be cleaner and you’ll get a better curve for the text. You can still use an h1 for a text title for SEO, but position it off screen with CSS.

good point. sometimes the old fashioned way is better. I hate images of text, but styling every letter kind of silly
