Custom ad template

Trying to edit the ad template as described in https://wpadverts.com/documentation/child-themes-and-templates/ by copying the /templates/single.php as single-advert.php into my themes directory the ads displayed load a bunch of images from the site and the page takes for ever to load due to the images, so clearly I did something wrong?
