Custom Category Archive – Dynamic content above posts

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if it’s possible to add dynamic content above the list of post excerpts.

By dynamic content, I mean that I will be able to easily change the content above the post excerpts, without having to continually go into the php. I intend for this space to be a “featured story” within the category.

If that isn’t feasible, then I was wondering if there’s a way to change the width + height + background + border of the FIRST post excerpt on the category archive page. Ideally, it will be larger and can fit more text and a larger thumbnail image.
