Custom Category Pages: Want the loop to be divided into 2 or 3 columns

Hi,

I’ve been up for almost 19 hours now doing some work. The last 5 hours of that was spent on Googling a solution for this. I’ve found many sites that seem to help…but as the hours tick, and I implement the advice I find, the more it seems to not work. Needless to say, “arghhhhhh!!!”

So, I’ve made custom category pages. I’m looking for this specifically:

1) category posts to be split between two or three columns.

2) category posts to act as if newsfeed (like, if you scroll down further, it will show more posts from that category).

3) here’s a picture of what I want to go for

4) here’s another picture of something like it, but just as 2 or 3 columns

The solution I found was from “alchymyth” on the wordpress forums and on a post on his website. Or at least, I think he got the closest. The code looked like it was going to work…but then my hands messed something up.

So if you want to put your 2 cents in, please do! I need your help!
