Custom Category Templates Working For Some But Not Others

  • Hey guys, I’ve been using custom category templates for all my categories and they have been working fine.

    But there’s this one particular category (let’s call it X) that JUST DOESN’T work and I have no idea why.

    If I change X’s file name to another category’s slug, it immediately works for that new category.

    I’ve quadruple, quintuple checked they are exactly the same and still no luck. Is this some kind of bug?

  • Something is probably colliding with something else. Try changing the category’s slug on the category edit page. You should be able to keep the category name the same, just change the slug – add a 1 or something to the end of the name. Then change the name of your category template to match and see if that works.
