• I am relatively new to WordPress, Buddypress and Custom Community but so far its been a smooth ride.
Custom Community is powerful and flexible, as promised it make customisation easy.
I just ( GULP!) update WordPress, Buddypress and Custom Community one after the other and, bar a couple of very minor template tweaks I needed to revise, I was all set.
    Very smooth.

  • Always, always, back up your site files, server side..before you do an update on ANYTHING. Your best bet is to save your files, in the previous version of wordpress first, just incase the new wordpress update crashes it. Because, doing a restore, in the server, will not restore the older version of your wordpress..so it’s super important.
Another note, I have learned with buddypress, is to wait a couple of weeks to update your wordpress when the new versions come out. Reason: it takes about that long for bug reports to pour in to buddypress.org so the pluggins that crash will be updated to(we hope anyway)
