• Hi,

I have created a contact for using the plugin [Custom Contact Forms], I have 2 input fields, name and email and have set their values to ‘name…’ and ’email…’, but when you click inside the input to put your name and email the value text doesn’t disappear they have to highlight the text and delete it, I would like it to disappear tho.

If someone could help me on this I would be very grateful.

    Thanks ??

  • I just installed the plugin and took it for a test drive.. My that is some confusing/complicated form plugin.

I inserted a default value and couldn’t make it disappear. I don’t think that it’s set up to disappear on click. If your form has labels, you probably don’t need to insert any initial values.

    Hi Christine..

Thanks for your reply, Yea I agree it is a complicated form plugin, once you get your head around it tho it’s ok..

That’s the problem tho the design I have done does not have labels just the input boxes with the value inside.

I created a new form. Now I’d like to edit it. Can’t figure out how to edit the form I created. Appears my only option is the create a new form “perfectly” the first time?

okay, starting to get it. Clicked the “More Options” button and saw that I could “attach fields” to an existing form. Maybe make it clear which form a user is editing or maybe a label like “Edit This Form” for us simpletons.

    Ten minutes later…
Oh shoot, was getting the hang of it. Testing the form, got this error on Google Chrome running “Desktop Server”.

    Could not instantiate mail function.
Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at C:\inetpub\wwwroot\boston-apartments.me\www.rentboardwalk.dev\wp-includes\class-phpmailer.php:586) in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\boston-apartments.me\www.rentboardwalk.dev\wp-includes\pluggable.php on line 866

Connected, just running a local server. Tried SMTP too.

You obviously put A LOT of work into this. Will revisit in the future.

Hi Brent, when I first started using custom contact forms, I found it complicated to get my head around but now I am use to it I use it on every WordPress site I do, bare with it and you will learn to love it, never seen the error your getting tho, sorry I can’t help you on that one.

First of all, I absolutely love this plug-in! I have two things I need a little help with.

    1. Not all of my ‘attached fields’ are showing up on my published form. Is there a place in the code where there is only a certain number of fields allowed? If so, what .php does that reside in so I can change it?

    2. I would also like to change the email query to not allow free email accounts such as @hotmail, @yahoo, @msn, @live, @gmail, etc. (Client is a strict business to business provider and has requested this). Which .php should I place this code in or should I create a new one?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you

thanks for the inspiration. I moved back to cforms to get the project done. Time is my most valuable resource.

I enjoy seeing the disparity between developers and designers in plugins. It can be entertaining. I do wish plugins were co-developed between designers and and developers to help assure a higher standard of usability.

TED, as in TED.com recently introduced an effort to bring together educators and animators to produce succinct educational/instructional videos. This working metaphor would be great value to plugin developers as evidenced, I believe in some of the entirely complex yet highly usable plugins in the market.

One of the rarest forms of human capability exists in the mind of the person that can code and design equally well. Everyone else needs two brains to make a successful product.

hmm, maybe should have posted this one in the repository…

    Hi,

I have installed custom contact forms and made personalised forms for 4 different countries. When you select the country from the drop down menu and press submit it doesnt load the specific form for the country that you have requested?

    Regards

    Richard
