    Hello

When setting a custom content width on a post with sidebars turned off, everything works as expected. Content width will be the set percentage of the container.

If the sidebar is enabled, however, the expected behavior would be for the post + sidebar to take up the set percentage of the container width. That is not so.

If the sidebar is enabled, content starts at the left edge of the container, and the sidebar ends at the right edge of the container. If a custom width is entered, it only affects the ratio of container width shared by content and sidebar respectively.

    For example:

    – When selecting a custom content with of 50% with no sidebar at a container width of 1600p, the post is going to be 800p wide and centered, as expected.

    – When selecting a custom content with of 50% with a (right) sidebar at a container width of 1600p, the post is going to be 1600p, with an 800p wide content and an 800p wide sidebar.

I think this has to be a bug, because I can’t imagine the sidebar taking up 70% of the screen/container if a custom content width of 30% is entered to be intended behavior.

    Cheers!

  • Hi @rodario!

This is not a bug, it’s the way the theme works. The content width targets the content of the post. The sidebar is not included in the post content itself, so when the sidebar is enabled, decreasing the content width will increase the sidebar width and vice versa.

    Have a nice day!

    Hi @luciamarinescu

    Thanks for your reply.

Okay, then I would suggest changing the way the theme works because I can’t imagine a situation in which this would be more desirable than the standard way. You can still set how wide the sidebar should be globally. It also makes no sense that the width setting behaves different with and without sidebar.

I’d call this a bad design choice, sorry.

Have a nice day regardless ??
