Custom CSS for Disqus (2013)

Hi there. I’m trying to change the CSS of Disqus in order to align my text to the right as well as changing the direction to rtl. I know a thread from 2012 was made to deal with this issue, but since then the Disqus plugin has been changed and now the method described in the thread from 2012 appears to be irrelevant. I tried changing the CSS of #disqus_thread and .textarea and even the td for the respective wrapper in which the Disqus box resides. Using any of these methods in FireBug aligns the text just fine. However, trying to add these lines to the actuall CSS results is a big fat nothing and I’m starting to believe there is some code that enforces the CSS no matter what the core WP CSS is defined to do. I would really appreciate it if anyone can give me a solution, or even a hint as to how I can deal with this. Thanks in advance.
