Custom events list layout with shortcode?

  • Is there a way to create a custom layout for an events list that can be inserted into a theme using a shortcode?

    Client wants events list on front page but with date, location, time, etc. in a different layout than the default Upcoming Events widget, and default ‘agenda’ shortcode. In other sites, I’ve used the widget and CSS to create a new look, but this is the first one asking for a layout change.
