• Thanks for this great plugin. A question about the custom field. Can you clarify the below please:

‘If enabled, makes the following field enabled by default for all buttons and products.
You can control per-product or per-button behaviour by editing the product and selecting enabled or disabled option under the Custom Field section.’

I have created a custom field that is only for use on a small number of products. So basically I want it disabled by default but with the ability to enable it on one or two. Currently if the field isn’t enabled then it can’t be used at all.

Could it be made so that you choose whether the default position is on or off please. That would be very useful! Thank you.

Hi, please check the following documentation custom-field-settings-feature-stripe-payments-plugin to learn more. This explains all you need to know about custom fields.

Let me know if this helps you.

    Thank you

    Thanks for the speedy reply.
I tried that assuming that was the answer but unchecked, this is what I see under custom field on the products screen:

Custom field is disabled. Configure custom field in the settings menu of this plugin to enable it.

Okay try the following. Enable the following field Enable For All Buttons and Products located in Advanced Settings tab. Then go to edit your product and choose whether you want this custom field enabled or not for the product in question.

Let me know if this helps you.

    Thank you

That is what I have done.

With the button not checked, the options to enable or not on the individual product aren’t there. They are when the Enable for All Buttons is checked but when not checked the message I posted earlier – ‘Custom field is disabled. Configure custom field in the settings menu of this plugin to enable it.’ is showing.

I am using the latest version.

    Hi,

With the button not checked, the options to enable or not on the individual product aren’t there. They are when the Enable for All Buttons is checked but when not checked the message I posted earlier – ‘Custom field is disabled. Configure custom field in the settings menu of this plugin to enable it.’ is showing.

So that means that you need to enable the field Enable For All Buttons and Products located in Advanced Settings tab. Once you do this, it will give you the option to choose whether you want the custom field enabled or not for the product in question.

Sorry to persist with this! Has that page advice been updated? I’m sure it said to leave the button unchecked when you want to only apply it to one or two products?

It doesn’t really make sense when the option is called apply to all. The problem is if you only want to apply it to one or two of dozens of products, the global setting is the default so in that circumstance you need to disable the majority rather than just set it to enable one or two.

Is it possible to program it so that if that box isn’t checked then the default is disabled? That would make sense then.

Hi and thank you for your input. What you said makes sense indeed.

However, since this have been around for quite some time, we can’t just change the way it works, as this could possibly break existing functionality. So this should be discussed inside the team first.

I have created a ticket inside our inner system for this matter. I’ll update you with the outcome. My idea is to create a small addon (without any settings etc) that (when enabled) would just make the things work the way you described.

Thank you for your helpful response. That sounds promising. I was imagining perhaps that you might add an extra setting which allowsyou to choose whether the default is Enabled or Disabled but I will wait for your further update.

    Many thanks.
