custom field for excerpt not showing

    Hi,

    Created an ACF custom text field for pages and entered some text. Custom field is being recognized and rebuilt the index but the text in the custom fields is not being used for the excerpt.

    See image for relevanssi settings. Throughts on troubleshooting? Cache is disabled, tried resaving and checking/unchecking Use custom fields for excerpts.

    Anita Orne’s long association with the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival began in 2000 when she first appeared performing on Video Camera. She has made a number of appearances since, as video camera operator and editor, banjoist, bassist, board member, calligrapher, sawyer, and Executive Director.

    The excerpt text mentions “Anita” only once; there’s a bit in the post content where the word “Anita” is found twice. Thus, Relevanssi thinks that’s a better match for the search term.

    If you search for “anita orcas”, for example, you’ll find Relevanssi will take the excerpt from the custom field as it provides the best match.

    If you want the custom field to always show up as an excerpt, disable Relevanssi custom excerpts and change your search results template so that it shows the custom field instead of using the_excerpt().
