custom field in post page?

ya ive seen that. it doesnt produce what im looking for. i want to add a custom field into the dashboard when someone is posting ??

Use this plugin to place a custom field box on the post. It will show up right after the text box, not the title:

You may be able to hack the plugin to place it under the title.

Hi I have downloaded WordPress 2.1 and am trying to display a custom field in my post page, I have downloaded the custom-field-gui plug-in and the get custom field values but can’t get it to work.
I managed to get the field to show in the writing page, it is saving and remembering the values but it’s simply not showing anything.
I have found and tried so many syntax (get_custom_field values, c2c..) but nothing seems to work.
I am no coder/programmer and I’m new to WordPress but I’ve been spending far too much time on what should be a quite a silly thing to do!
Help!!!
