• Finally realized the the “Custom Field” feature might be something I can use but I need to clarify if this is possible.

I would like to create a Custom field “What We are Repatterning This Week” that can be inserted into a post, but changing the value in one place changes all of the posts with that custom field. IF someone lands on a post from 3 years ago, I would like to have a custom field at the bottom of my post with the updated value for the current date (or last time I updated the custom field. IN other words one custom field key + value for all posts.

Is this possible? The way I read it so far I can create the key “What we are Repatterning This Week” but the value changes with each post and then stays that way for ever.

    Help appreciated!

  • No expert, so could be off here, but my take would be that implementing that feature from within posts using Custom Fields isn’t the best use of that feature, especially if you are trying to carry the same “value” across all posts.

Maybe a better way to accomplish your goal would be to add a custom field to your user profile. That way, when you want to change the value of “What we are Repatterning This Week”, you would just login, change the value in your profile and it would update it across all pages where you’ve printed that specific meta using the_author_meta($field, $userID).
